The Grand Canal

Emperor Wen of Sui orders the digging of the Canal to unclog the drain. Foreman Wang Shih-chung squeezes on food ration and persecutes the workers. Chang San-lang inflicts bodily punishment on him. Shih-chung seeks Peng Shan Old Man's help to fight against him and Chang beats him by a narrowmargin.Envoy Ta Chu in Ti Chi oppresses the people. Yang Yung and Li Tsing combine to punish him out of righteousness, and they are impressed by each other.Ti Chi invites the Sui family to send men to participate in a tournament. Yang Kuang strongly recommends Yang Yung to act as the envoy, claiming to give him a chance to obtain credit but actually harboring the malicious plot of having him removed.To return the favor of saving his life, Chang promises Mrs Hsuan Hua to take care of Chen Shu-ming, but Chen is ungrateful and keeps complaining about Chang's failure to help him reinstate the state .and accusing Mrs Husan Hua of cowardice……
